Trading Classroom: In Person Training
I am preparing an in-person trader training program. This would be on top and beyond the course materials, lessons, and books I have shared over the years. The program will incorporate unique trading research and ideas that I have assembled over the last 4 years, audio interviews I have conducted with top traders since 2005 and full length video interviews conducted for my documentary film over the course of 2007 and 2008. Not meaning to throw cold water on the idea, as I’ve found both of your books to be great reads…but what about the idea that “those who can do, and those who can’t teach.” In other words, although your general principles may be sound, what evidence do you bring to the table in the form of results from actual trades to show that a complete Covel trading system would beat what one would expect without your insights?
There are a lot of people promoting systems based on historic data that say, “If you’d used my system here, you would’ve made 60% on this trade”. Well, that’s useless information. If I’d chosen different numbers, I would’ve won the lottery too.
I would like to see a portfolio statement over the course of a couple years — not unlike what you show from the Turtle traders — before joining up.

More information to follow. That said, your comment about the lottery and 60% misses the boat though. That is not what I do.

Good to know…I’m sure you’ve seen the ads from the guys who DO back test their methodology so it fits the curves of the market as if it could be a market predictor. In fact, a ten-year-old could accomplish the same result by pointing out that a purchase on such-and-such a past trend line would have made you $X.
