I was checking up on the stats of Washington Nationals phenom Bryce Harper. He is currently in single A and after a little slump is batting 4-for-15 (.267) with three RBIs in four games. Not bad for an 18-year-old guy in first few weeks of pro ball. One reader, apparently at Harper’s last game, was not impressed:
“Harper is really talented its just a shame that he does not respect the fans that came out to the game to see him and stayed after waiting for him. He ignored fans coming on to the field at the beginning of the game and afterward getting on the bus. He did not have to come over and sign a ton of autographs but a simple wave would have been nice instead he gets on the bus headphones on and no acknowledgment at all. The truly sad part is the team bus driver came over and told us that it was too hot out, when asked if Bryce might sign. Maybe he will figure out where that contract money came from.”
Another reader responded to that remark:
“Relax a bit, what he’s 18-years-old, just got out of a slump and didn’t wave once and you’re already calling him ‘un fan friendly,’ whatever that even means. Give the kid, emphasis on kid, a break. You’ll get your signature at some point, but you can’t judge a kid like that, to me that’s childish.”
That first comment is more than childish, it is the definition of a loser. Successful people don’t think like that. Only a loser would go online to carp about not getting a “wave”.
