Osama bin Laden’s death was irrelevant to wise traders.

    I had a discussion about the markets some weeks ago with a quite inexperienced wannabe trader.

    His plan: He prepares for the horrible event that Barack Obama gets assassinated. In that case, he plans to get massively short in the major indexes immediately.

    I produced a chart, and showed him what happened last time a president of the US was killed (Nov 22, 1963). That made him very quiet. I then tried to tell him that such singular events have nothing to do with the general market trend. I’m not quite sure whether he got a clue.
